40 Bags in 40 Days

I recently discovered a decluttering challenge called “40 Bags in 40 Days” on White House Black Shutters. The idea is to get rid of clutter and simplify your home by tackling one area a day.

Sounds like a great challenge for purging some scrapbooking and craft supplies!

Since my previous purge, stuff has slowly started creeping in… Project Life cards, embellishments, not to mention the endless school papers the kids bring home. And I have craft supplies, art supplies and sewing supplies, too. I’m ready to get some things out of the house! I won’t spend all 40 days on scrapbooking and craft supplies, nor do I have 40 bags’ worth of supplies to donate, but I will include them on my list of areas to simplify. Paper, yarn, paint, fabric, school papers… one day at a time.

Scrapbookers? Are you with me?

Check out the White House Black Shutters blog for more details. I love the pep talk near the end of the post:

  1. You don’t need all of this stuff.
  2. It won’t make you happier.
  3. Your home should not make you feel overwhelmed or stressed.
  4. You do not need to be embarrassed.
  5. You can do this. (repeat that)
  6. You are not alone in feeling this way.

We can do this!

I have been doing something similar the past week. So far I have 4 boxes full of various papers, craft supplies which are getting donated to the elementary school. It feels so good to downsize.

      Wow! That’s fantastic – and encouraging! :)

I do this on an ongoing basis. My unwanted filters through to my sister & a friend. Whatever they don’t want, my friend takes either to Playgroup or Mother’s group for their crafting pleasure.
Some things I swap and if it’s an expensive item I have sold on eBay (my sister sells my stamps for me) which gives me more money to buy craft stuff that I need.
